Flash videos display two vertical grey bars, won't play

I tried reinstalling flash and restarting my browser, but all I get are two verical bars in place of youtube or webisode videos.

If I click on the youtube videos, they'll play, but I have no control over the sound (the bar won't move), but segments of The Office at the NBC website refuse to play at all.

I upgraded to Firefox 3 Beta 2 and while I'm still having problems handling php links from external sources (thunderbird), videos on Youtube and elsewhere are working fine now.
