flash version not acknowledged

When I go to the Adobe site I see:

You have version 9,0,124,0 installed

However, when I go to another site (for example to watch Heroes: http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/video/episodes/?vid=679404); I'm told I need 'Flash Player 9' or greater.

What is the website looking at?

It's looking for IE.
I've used firefox to visit the site and got the same warning as you. Using the "user agent switcher" extension I faked firefox as IE and was able to pass the initial check for flash player, but I couldn't proceed after the flash animated logo.

Bleah. And I'd already had to change the useragent to Netscape. I changed the useragent to Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0b; Windows NT 6.0) and got the same as you: the flash intro with the NBC penguin and that's it.

I also see:
so.addVariable("operatingSystem", compConfig.OSDetection());
so.addVariable("browserSupport", compConfig.isBrowserSupported());
so.addVariable("directInstalled", compConfig.isPluginInstalled())

What is OSDetection looking for?
