Flash refuses to run when installed
Hi I am new here and i have a problem with installing the flash player for my linux. I run Ubuntu 6.10 and when i installed flash through synaptic manager, terminal through root, even installed from firefox itself it still wont run.
I see the actual flash files in the folders of mozilla, firefix, and opera. when i run opera or firefox it still asks me to install it is there something that i did wrong or is there something that i am missing? help would be greatley appriciated. |
Try locate mozilla/plugin firefox/plugin, and opera/plugin
and copy/move the plugins there. In some cases it's mozilla-firefox/plugin or download here ]# tar -zxvf FP9_plugin_beta_101806.tar.gz copy/move plugin to the plugin file. hth |
I have done all of that
I just put flash 9 in and it still fails |
Check the ownership/permissions of the files that were installed into your local plugins directory, usually ~/.mozilla/plugins but yours might be different. The file should be libflashplayer.so which should be accessible and executable by your user. If it's not there check the global plugins directory, usually /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins or /usr/lib/firefox/plugins. Again yours might be different.
