Flash Player plays in fast forward

I'm running the lastest version of firefox and the latest version of adobe flash player on PCLinuxOS. i've uninstalled, reinstalled, cussed it out, intimidated, switched users, tried a different web browser and still can't get adobe flash player to play videos and music at a normal pace. It will play just fine for 5-30 minutes and then it will play in fast forward with no audio. i'm just about ready to reformat the operating system. But before i do that i figured i'd post on this forum to see if there's any hope... is there?
