If it exists (for 64-bit architecture), the instructions are at Adobe.com -> downloads -> Linux. Actually installing the player is a matter of copying one .so file to your browser's plugin directory, or if you like, running an installer script that comes along the package (that does this for you; there's also a standalone player setup possibility if I remember right). So it's just as easy as copying a file to a certain directory; however I've always done this in 32-bit operating systems, so 64-bit is another matter..

Find out (from the web, for example) if Flash works with 64-bit Linux operating systems. If yes, see if it's installation procedure is the same as with 32-bit (copying the file), or if you need to do some magic.

Yes, this is one of the real disadvantages of being an 'early adopter'.

If you go for a less-popular variant architecture there is no reason to suppose that suppliers of proprietary software, like flash, will necessarily bring out versions of their utilities for your variant arch. There is, of course, no way that 'enthusiasts' can force the issue by simply re-compiling the code for your arch because the proprietary code suppier has not released the source. And usually the protocols are not documented, so the only way that a free version can be produced is with a massive reverse engineering effort, and this often does not seem worthwhile if the vendor might be about to bring out the variant arch versions of their utility at any minute. (Or not.)

Over time, I'm gradually coming around towards the Richard Stallman point of view.

You might also want to find out what you distro says about running 32 bit code under the 64 bit software arch. You might not think much of that idea, but it may be your only way of actually getting flash. Me, historically, I have refused to use flash even on 32 bit systems for this and other reasons, but I might revise that now Adobe is in charge, and if they do enough documentation that I can assure myself that flash isn't a security problem.

I'll continue a little bit. I too don't like Flash all that much (mainly it's just irritating waste of space and loading times), but have to use it to access some sites (that are fool enough to have built the whole site on Flash content, effectively preventing the usage from many mobile users and text-only viewers). Anyway, there are some (open source) alternatives for the Adobe Flash that can display Flash content; of course they're not 100% "Adobe flash compatible", but I think most of the things should work (check osflash.org or something close to that). Not sure if any of those things works on 64-bit architecture either, but there's a better chance since they're open source unlike Adobe's Flash player.

This "new & shiny" 64-bit architecture thing has got too much hype in it; as of now it's not of that much use really. I'd stick with 32-bit architecture until the 64-bit one has become popular enough so that the software I need is fully made available for it. By that time, however, there may be something else coming too..

Currently there is no 64 bit version of flash for linux. But you can download a pre-compiled 32-bit version of Firefox and use the 32-bit version of Flash.

Also there is a project called nspluginwrapper that runs 32-bit plugins on 64-bit browsers. It's buggy apparently.

P.S. I got this information off of Gentoo's wiki. It's a different flavor, but you might find the info useful
