Try running Firefox from a console window. It may give you some useful output. I never use the flash installer, I copy the libsomething file from the installer into the firefox plugins dir (/usr/lib/firefox/plugins on Slackware I think). That has never failed me.

Segmentation fault is pretty bad. Does the aboutlugins screen in Firefox tell you that it detects the flash plugin? Maybe you should try removing the plugin by removing anything with flash in it from the Firefox plugins directory and installing the libflashplayer.so (I think) by hand. It could also mean a corrupt profile. You could try deleting (after backing it up ofcourse) then $HOME/.mozilla/firefox directory.

yes the about plugins ells me it is installed.
I have deleted the files numerous times and manually copied them there myself.
I thoguht there might be a font issue as the firefox error screen is unreadable
if i put these files in place for Mozilla i experience the same problem
