Fixed Asset Management -- PHP/MySQL
 

Can anyone suggest a *simple* fixed asset management package. Something very simple, and very basic; it can be as basic as having 4 or 5 fields, asset tag #, name, location, description.

I've been searching the usual places, freshmeat and sourceforge, but I haven't found anything that fits the bill. The closest I've found is a project on sf.net called asset-tracker, but I haven't been able to get a fully functional setup yet, and I'd prefer to find something that is in a stable state/stage of development, as opposed to beta or alpha.

Do you need multi-user capabilities, like in a RDBMS back-end?
Not that I have anything specific in mind, but it may prevent
suggestions like "scalc" ;}

Multi-user would be nice, but by no means is it a necessity. Anything simple and easy would work.

Hmmm ... so what stops you from just using a spread-sheet for that information?

Well, I think I would like something that I can expand. I've started writing a simple PHP script, followed by a Python script where I can throw data in a small database that I've created, and I think thats what I'm going to have to start with. I have just a simple single-table database, with 6 fields, for info that I want to enter.

It'll take me a day or so to do (between not being a good "coder", and with other job related stuff that I'm working on).

So, finally, I read an article on RootPrompt, I believe, and they are reviewing a product called GLPI, which is under the GNU GPL license.

While it is much bigger, and a lot more than I need, I can definitely use the fixed asset management in the program.
