Firewall softwares

Hi! I recently installed Mepis. WHat I noticed about this Distro is that already has a User Friendly Firewall Guarddog. I am wondering if this firewall is strong enough to protect our servers. I'm quite new to Linux and Networking but there are some proposals for me to buy a expensive firewall (around $ 2,000). Can Guarddog be a good alternative for this? I want to setup a Firewall router. Does Guarddog support port forwarding? If not, what other firewall softwares can you suggest? Thanks in advance.

Guidedog is the companion to Guarddog that provides port forwarding.

Thanks man...One more thing, the machine I have has two ethernet cards (static IP provided by my ISP and a local line). Do I need to setup a squid service to share the internet? Does guarddog has a internet connetion sharing (web cache proxy)? I know firestarter can do this.

Guidedog can do what you want; you need to enable port forwarding and NAT (IP Masquerade). See here.
