Firewall programming ..


If i were to design a Application Firewall then does is it need Kernel Level Programming?

Have you actually looked at some of the existing, production-ready application level firewalls?

Yes I have but not at the Coding level. Now I was only looking into how the internal works as in .... is it programmed at Kernel level ?

The Linux built-in firewall capability is called iptables; it is part of the terminal. There are a number of command line and GUI frontends that can be used to manage it. You can also write iptables rules directly. To learn more, open a terminal and run the command man iptables to open the iptables manual page.

Note that "man pages" are written as references, not as tutorials; they can be very barebones and dense. Here's one tutorial: http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2011/01/...-fundamentals/
