Firewall

I would like to be able to receive a message when Suse's firewall stops a program from using a port. In windows xp, the firewall will give you a message asking what you want to do whenever a program attempts to use a blocked port. Is there a way to get this same thing to happen in Linux? (I realise you would have to enter the root password every time the firewall stops something)

If you are simply looking for logging information, and not a "what should we do with this?" type of prompting, you can log to the root window using something like root-tail. You could also look for something a little fancier, I'm sure a gkrellm log viewer exists. Otherwise, if you are looking for something that is going to prompt you when you drop a packet or whatever, I [thankfully] haven't seen anything like that floating around. Quite obtrusive if you ask me; the rare occasion I spend more than a few minutes on a windows machine and get prompted with 15 pop up windows from the system task bar, I want to throw the machine through a window...

Cool

Wouldn't that be a recursion without a terminating condition?
