FirefoxWM Window Manager
I had an idea so great (or so crazy!) yesterday, that I just have to share it to gather some opinions:
Howabout a window manager/environment based on the Firefox codebase?
The idea is as follows:
-Extensions and themes are simple to create and use. There are a number of highly useful and low overhead extensions for example, those that give the date/time in the toolbar, minimalistic control of various media players (foxyTunes,) the google toolbar, and ofcourse the webEditor. A user could install the barebones FirefoxWM system and then add firefoxWM extensions to increase the functionality of their desktop.
-Tabs could be configured to interface with different virtual desktops and applications.
-Your 'homepage' would be a static css/html (or php) formatted page tab embedded in the desktop background. The user would configure it using simple extensions, or if they preferred, a web editor to make desktops something *unique* again.
And these are just a few ideas.
Easier said than done, I know, but what do you guys think?
