Firefox video playback multiple instance
 

Hi there,

I am running Linux Mint Debian2 64,with Firefox 54, I got a very strange problem lately. Whenever I play back Youtube or other video on website the sound of the video will stick in there even I switch website, if I reload the website the video will restart and overlap with the original one but with sound only, that's said, I will see one video with 2 sound one is not in-sync., I don't have this problem with Chrome, what's going on here and how to fix ?

I have not encountered this with Firefox on Debian Sid.

Try starting Firefox from the command line, then replicate your actions. Perhaps something relevant will appear in the terminal.

Also, it might help to know the specs of your computer, specifically the sound architecture. That is a shot in the dark, but too much information is usually better than too little.

You're saying the audio track keeps playing after you close the tab? If I'm playing video with audio, in two tabs, I get audio overlap. I just close the tab I'm not watching.

That's too simple to be a mistake.
I am using a Thinkpad with Intel video, no issue with the hardware so far.

I had the same source producing 2 sound tracks one delayed to the other. It turned out to be down to a firefox add on that could download from youtube. It was ok when I first installed it but started doing this shortly afterwards, maybe due to a reboot or log out etc. I had to remove the add on.

Also think sound carried on after a page was left but was more concerned about the "echo".

I do have YouTube downloader add-on , which one would have caused the problem ? Thanks for the tip !

I have multiple video downloader on FF, coz there is compatibility problem with some websites, I removed all but one downloader now Youtube play back normally !

I had the same issue and I found it was 'HTML5 Video Everywhere!' that I specifically proved caused that behaviour. I was glad to discover this and have it 'proven' to be the culprit. Hope this helps...
