Firefox upgrading - correct folders and file deletions

I have the original vn of Firefox (0.8) from the Mandrake install CD's and am looking to upgrade to vn 0.9.3

I have looked and studied firefox help which states broadly that you must not installl into an existing folder .

What therefore are the correct steps to upgrade to vn 0.93

ie Uninstall vn 0.8 and destroy all folders.

Where should the files be placed for a clean upgrade ?

ie do you maintain maintain /home/.mozillafirefox, which holds the profiles ?

Do you install into usr/bin/mozilla firefox or usr/share/mozillafirefox, or are any other directories involved ?

many thanks for any assistance

Sorry if I've missed this on the firefox help files

If you have installed firefox from rpm package then uninstall it whit rpm command and if you want to keep your configuration keep the folder in your directory called .phoenix then install firefox in /usr/share/firefox then make a symlink in /usr/bin.

No, but you can make a copy of the directory in /tmp and if uninstalling firefox delete the dir you have only copy the one you save in /tmp in your home
