Firefox save as problem

when i try to download anything with firefox, saved file has "another" extension... like, let's say i was downloading blahblah.tar.bz2 to /mnt/stuff. so one would expect, that in mnt/stuff one finds file blahblah.tar.bz2, but lo and behold - the actual file name is blahblah.tar.bz2.bz2

where did the second extension came from? probably will be mozilla thing as i observed this behaviour on mandriva 2006 as well as on my current suse 10.1, never on wintendo though... :(

any suggestions?

check if it's a local configuration issue:

- stop firefox...

- temporarilly get rid of your personal configs:
Code:

mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.bak
- start firefox and see if the problem persists...

yeah, that solved it, so i guess it must be one of my extensions. anyway i found a workaround - i am using flashgot to download files, which doesn't mess with extensions.

thanks...

after giving windoze final goodbye and formatting fat32 partition to reiserfs problem disappears... ;)
