If you had used a suse package, it would have created a desktop menu, etc. for you. You can edit your kde menu or keep running it from the console.

open a console and browse to:
/home/tony/firefox-installer/icons/

there type:
Code:
convert mozicon50.xpm firefox.png
then on your desktop create a file:
firefox.desktop
and put inside those lines:
Code:
[Desktop Entry]
Categories=Application;Network;
Comment=
Comment[en_US]=
Encoding=UTF-8
Exec=./firefox %u
GenericName=Web Browser
GenericName[en_US]=Web Browser
Icon=/home/tony/firefox-installer/icons/firefox.png
MimeType=text/html
Name=Firefox
Path=/home/tony/firefox-installer
StartupNotify=true
Terminal=false
TerminalOptions=
Type=Application
X-DCOP-ServiceType=
X-KDE-StartupNotify=true
X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false
X-KDE-Username=
Now you should have yourself a desktop link for firefox.

the convert is a command from the ImageMagick package to convert pictures from one format to another.
I asked you to do that because KDE seems to have better support for png that xpm.
You may use gimp to do that.
browse to the icon directory, open the image with gimp and save it as firefox.png

man ln

ln -s /home/tony/firefox-installer/firefox /bin/firefox
do it ONES and "firefox" will become one of your "system commans" %-) then you may do with it whatever you want (create a desktop icon %-)
