Firefox Problems

Hi
I seem to encountered a problem with Firefox. It was great a few days ago but now it's weird.

1) the back and forward buttons don't work on a right mouse click. A left mouse click will give me a list for past actions.
2) The Navigation Bar does not work. Typing in a URL has no effect.
3) There is a space for a search engine which was Google but that does not work either.
4) There is an Add-On Bar with websites I normally visit listed. If this Bar is ticked in the ToolBar these site will show up.
However if I then exit Firefox when I next use the browser the Add-On Bar is not showing even though it is ticked. Unticking it will show it.
5) Upon using firefox the page is blank and I have to click on the Homepage icon for it to access the Home Page.
6) Finally I am unable to access any TV programmes using BBC Iplayer although I can using other Iplayers. Incidentally the BBC is my HomePage.

I am using Mepis 11 and Firefox 9.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Grabro

Sorry, I didn't see that the Mepis of your profile doesn't correspond to the Mepis at the end of your post. You might want to update your profile to Mepis 11 since you're no longer using Mepis 6 or simple leave out the version number of your profile since that will change as newer versions are released.

Regarding BBC iPlayer, I found that my current NoScript (and/or possibly AdBlock Plus) settings stop me using it. I've not bothered to troubleshoot it yet though as I can use other browsers for iPlayer.
Aside from your browser being hideously out of date it may simply be that time has come tot set up a new profile. I've found when upgrading Firefox between major versions things can stop working properly and a new profile tends to fix it though obviously you lose your preferences.

I don't think Adblock Plus is the problem. I use Adblock Plus but that doesn't have any effect on BBC's iPlayer. It works as it should.

Thanks, I only mentioned it because in the past I had a situation where I had to disable both to get a site working -- it usually is just a metter of tweeking NoScript settings.

you really should use your distro's package management to update ALL software (and not download some package straight from your browser, which then might or might not be compatible with your operating system, or cause harm later).
