Firefox Problems

I'm running Mepis 3.3 Test 2. Firefox crashes with the message "Bus error" when I attempt to run it from a terminal session (it won't start at all otherwise). The firefox version is 1.0+dfsg.1-5 as reported by kpackage.

Bus error in an otherwise stable program often means bad hardware. Have you tried a different version of firefox? Do you see any other similar errors with other programs?

No problems with other software noted. I've been using the machine all day and it seems stable (I'm browsing using konq). I had some locale errors crop up but I generated new locales and the that went away. I've uninstalled firefox and reinstalled the deb package using apt-get. I'll try and download the firefox installer and see how that goes. For obvious reasons (like I'm lazy) I'd rather stick with the apt-get process. But if I must, I must.
