Unhappy Firefox problem with Java, HELP?

I have installed Firefox PR1 on Fedora Core 2. The browser itself runs fine. However, if I link in the firefox/plugins directory, like its said on, the browser fails to load with the message:

INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not get the plugin manager
System error?:: Success

How can I get the plug-in working with Firefox? can you help me?
