Firefox on a 10" Screen

I have a netbook which I use Firefox as my main browser and it has some strange behavior. It opens ever page with the text in a 'normal' size meaning that is zoom into the webpage, so I have to scroll every page sideways or, my preferred option, zoom out two steps.

How can I tell Firefox to use this zoom level as the default setting?

Thanks

Have you tried using the Zoom item on the View menu? Does that not work for you?

You could try lowering the default font size. Edit->Preferences->Content tab->Fonts & Colors. It won't be quite the same as zooming out since it won't affect images.

Hi,

jdkaye, zooming in that method achieves what I want, except it resets itself every webpage, so I constantly have to zoom. I want the computer to know what zoom level I want.

everest40, I shall give that a go and let you know how I get on.

By default the zoom levels in Firefox are site specific. You can change that with typing about:config into the address bar, confirming the security question and typing zoom into the search bar on the config site. You should now see an option named browser.zoom.siteSpecific, which has the true value by default. Just make a double-click on that option to change it to false. From now on when you have changed the zoom level in a tab it will keep that level even if you switch the site.
Keep in mind that Firefox still manages the zoom levels of different tabs independently.

Under History settings there's a choice to remove site-specific settings -- if that's ticked it could be what is causing Firefox to "forget" your choices.

Some web pages have a mobile address that may be easier to use. Mobile intended for phones and PDA's.

Regarding your original question about zooming, try also holding CTRL down and then striking MINUS and PLUS, these zoom/un-zoom the whole page; images and fonts together. Not sure if it holds this setting.
