Firefox is bugged?

Okay, I have mysql database from which a php script retrieves data from and sends to flash via actionscript. In windows with firefox I can view the html page and the flash movie displays correctly with all of the data from the database.

I switch over to my Linux box (windows is virual machine on same box) and I open the same flash movie and it gets stuck saying at the bottom "transfering data from url".

Originally I was certain this was because the movie was done in flash 8. SO I exported the movie in Flash 7 format, then Flash 6 format, tried both, neither worked! Exact same thing happened in broswer. With windows, it ALWAYS displays fine.

Flash-plugin is installed and working properly as can be seen when I visit other flash websites and have no problem whatsoever. The only place where I can think a problem exists is Firefox itself in Linux. Something with the way it communicates is messing it up... Or does someone have better ideas?

let's see, you just stated that you can go visit other flash websites and have no problems. So the problem is not with Firefox in Linux the problem seems to be someplace else, like maybe your virtual machine configuration or with something else related to how the flash movie is built or both.

Well it wouldn't have anything to do with my vmware configuration since Linux is not the virtual machine... But yes it is possible the flash program itself is not compatible with linux, but then again, why wouldn't it be? I did nothing special... I used actionscript to call on a php script... both actionscript and the phpscript work (cause I can view the data from windows)

Honestly, I will fix this problem but I need a place to start... I doubt it is firefox, but what else could it really be?
