Cool Firefox Installation Question etc...

Hi,

I loaded down Firefox 1.0.7 and installed it. It was loaded down as a tar.gz file.

I unziped it and untared it (hope is language is correct).

It got installed in a directory called 'firefox-installer' and when I tried to open the browser from the desktop I couldn't. So I created a link to the start script on the desktop and that works.

I don't know if this is the correct way to do things or not. I would like to know a few things if you would be kind enough to help me out.

1. How can I change the Icon..I looked but couldn't find a way to do it.
2. Is there a better way to install it and get an icon pointing to it at the same time.
3. How can I arrange it so when other users log in they will also see the icon for firefox either on their desktop or say in the tool bar at the bottom...etc.

Thanks.

As far as installing it this is the way I did it. I unpacked it in my /opt(You can put it where-ever u like)directory. Then ran the CL and started firefox.
Code:
/opt/firefox/firefox
This checked to make sure everything was updated.
After that I just created a link to firefox.
Not sure why it isn't like most software where you have to install it but maybe someone else can answer that.
For the Icon that depends which GUI your using. If KDE then just right-click the icon select prop, then click the icon and change it.
