linux does not automatically add things to your 'start' menu like windows does. you can make a linke to it (shortcut) button on your desktop if you want.
in KDE you right click the desktop, creat new, file, link to application.
then give it a name, select an icon, go to the last tab and type in :
mozilla-firefox
in the command box.
now you need only clicky the shrotcut button on your desktop to get access to it. you would need to use the control center to add things to your KDE menu if you do not want to clutter up your desktop.
