Firefox Install issues

Where exactly do I need to copy the libflashplayer.so after downloading the current Mozilla Firefox version? I'm getting conflicting information after doing some research.

Some say copy the file in the /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins directory
Others say /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins directory

I know the two examples above is just a 64bit difference but my 64bit machine also has the "lib" directory. Does that mean I have to copy it in there as well? Am I missing anything else?

I copied the libflashplayer.so file on both directories and I still can't get it to work. I un-installed all versions and re-installed it.. no luck.

BTW I am using RHEL5.

Hi Rory Glenn Pascua,

Give a try copying it under the following locations:

/usr/lib/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

what operating system ?
that is VERY IMPORTANT
and what VERSION of firefox
there is the standard 32 bit, and a custom 64 ( REQUIRES ALL 64 bit plugins )

the custom 64 bit build
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla..../linux-x86_64/
the std 32 bit
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

different OS's use different locations
-- 64 bit ---
/usr/lib64/browser-plugin
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins

so we do need to know what the OS is
where you put ff9.01 ( /usr/lib/FireFox9 ) is stated someplace in the documentation

however ff dose not have a "plugin" folder you can make one

so i am guessing then that it is the 32 bit firefox on 64 bit rhel5.?
type into the address bar
Code:
about:plugins
the currently used plugins will be listed there and there location
on my 64 bit set up it is
Quote:
File: /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so
Version:
Shockwave Flash 11.1 r102
for the 32 bit plugin put it in /usr/lib/browser-plugins/

however you might need to add a "plugins" folder to your ff directory
if so link it to /usr/lib/browser-plugins/

but seeing as this is rhel you have a paid for support contract
RHEL is not free
so you have access to the red hat knowledge base
( from the required paid fore license)
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/search
the full install instructions are in there
you will have to login to red hat to read the guides
