Firefox Install Help Mandrake 10.1


tried to install firefox, got the "fatal error -618" error in gui installer

this came up under the konsole during install error

Code:
[root@128 firefox-installer]# cd firefox-installer
bash: cd: firefox-installer: Not a directory
[root@128 firefox-installer]# ./firefox-installer-bin
DLError: libxpcom.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory[roo
t@128 firefox-installer]#
any help would be greatly appreciated, i am quite new to the linux world.
feel free to call me dumb heh.

Which Distro are you using?

cd into the "firefox-installer" directory and type:
Code:
./firefox-installer
Then press enter. A graphical installer should pop up.

To run firefox after the installation, just type "firefox" in the same directory.

Sorry for my First Post.
That was really stupid.

Moreover instead of keeping the firefox install in your Home directory, I would recommend to place it in

/usr/local

That is the place where most of the software goes.

For Firefox, create something like

/usr/local/firefox

But, as your Firefox must be up and running fine, you need not try this.

If you have more than one user for your Linux Desktop, you should have tried the above procedure.
Now, that you put Firefox in the directory menioned above, you will need to create a corresponding symlink.
