firefox frustration when changing networks

I have a laptop and am often moving from one network to another. I notice that firefox seems to have a hard time when I change networks or disconnect and reconnect to the same network. Basically it hangs for a long time and I often find myself restarting it, sometimes multiple times. While it is hanging waiting for a response, I can open eg. Konqueror and get the page loaded at normal speed. Konqueror doesn't seem to experience any of the problems related to switching networks.

Does anyone else experience similar problems? Is this some kind of caching issue?

Thanks,
Brian

yes, this is just a natural problem when browsing on the net,try not to open so many windows when browsing this could slow down the servernetwork and may cause hanging, and please try updating your computer with the latest spywaredoctor!

Have you got IPv6 enabled? This can cause long delays in Firefox. To see, go to the location bar, enter about:config and enter. You should get a long list of items. In the filter field type IPv6 and enter. It should list a parameter called Network.dns.disableIPv6. On the right side there is a field called Value, if it is set to False, try True, and see if that improves your performance.

If you are not using IPv6 you can safely disable it. BTW, this only stops Firefox form using it. IPv6 is still probably running on your system.

camorri: I've changed it, thanks, I'll see how it goes.

biago: This seems to happen with firefox, not with other web browsers
