Firefox: Disable New Window

How do I disable Firefox from launching a new window?

I don't like new windows, I prefer it to load in its own page (current tab) or new tab if necessary for a new page.

Please be specific; I know its in about:config somewhere.

Firefox Beta 1.5 has added functionality for opening all new windows in a new tab instead. I imagine there are extension to do the same thing.
