You know what? I think you're right. I have Xubuntu on my external USB and firefox doesn't have that problem. I just started thinking about that today. Also, I have mplayer instead of totem on the Xubuntu disk. Hmmmm. I'll check it out. Thanks!
later -- okay, I removed the totem-plugin and eventually the gxine-plugin and I got it to stop crashing on the page it was guaranteed to crash on. I still had a crash on the fafsa.ed.gov page (student loan page), but after I got back in it was okay. Not sure what that was about, but otherwise, when I view videos mplayer kicks and everything is fine. For now.
later yet -- well, maybe not. I actually went to
www.dell.com and put in ubuntu into the search engine, then chose the ubuntu topic and the little video crashed the page. Then right after, I started a new session and put in
www.linuxquestions.org and it crashed again! I suppose it was that crazy graphic on the front page that did it. Is it the flash plugin? Or what? Here's the output:
rat@rat-desktop:~$ firefox
Illegal instruction (core dumped) # from the ubuntu page
rat@rat-desktop:~$ firefox
Segmentation fault (core dumped) # from linuxquestions.org
rat@rat-desktop:~$ firefox
What the...?
