Copy the file "bookmarks.html" from c:\Documents and Settings\<your-username>\Application Data/Mozilla\Profiles\default\<random chars>\
to ~/.mozilla/firefox/<random chars>/

It is actually a simple process. Go to Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks
At the top left click on File->Export. It will save the file as bookmarks.htm
Then, in the other firefox. Go to Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks. Click on File->Import and select the bookmarks.htm file previously saved. Done!

Firefox, as I have it in Ubuntu Studio 12.04, has no such simple option to save html in file. What is the way now?
I found it in ctrl, shift and o pressed together.

Click Bookmarks on top bar of browser and select 'Show all bookmarks'. A new window will open and in the top bar on that page click 'Import and Backup', select 'export bookmarks to html...' and save it somewhere obvious or on a USB flash drive or even a floppy disk.

i take it you did not notice this post is from 2005
Back in 2005 Firefox 1 DID have a "bookmarks.html" file
But about 5 years back firefox moved to a database JSON xml format
you have to EXPORT the database to a json backup file or as a html file
then reimport it into firefox
" Bookmarks / show all bookmarks "
then in that new window click on
" import and back up"
export a backup json file
and import into the new firefox on the linux system
