Firefox and Media Player Annoyance

I like to listen to certain internet radio stations. Many have an embedded interface that is almost forced upon the user, so Firefox makes use of the RealPlayer and Mplayer plugins. It also tends to crash when it does so - not always, but very often. After killing Firefox, however, the Real Player / Mplayer process stays active. Could anybody help me so I can have a browser that is at least stable when I access my streams?

I have some of the same hit and miss problems with streaming links using both of the players you mention.

What I usually do is use the copy link (or copy URL) function and launch mplayer from a terminal to play the stream.

They are sometimes javascript or flash links, however, and may require a little fiddling to get the link to play properly...

First Firefox should never crash if you are getting a lot of crashes I suggest creating a new profile.

I usually do the same thing as kencaz, its easier as safer. I use Kplayer for most media except for dvds. You can also try saving the .pls and then launching it with whatever player you use.

But you can try using the MediaPlayerConnectivity extension
