firefox 9.1 w/mandrake 10

A problem I am having with FireFox 0.9 with Mandrake 10 2.6.4 kernal is anytime I click the shortcut to launch FF I get a menu wanting me to choose a user.. meaning the application is already in use. How can I configure either Linux or FF to avoid this. I just want it to launch normally like any other browser. Thank you.

You'll need to kill the other firefox running.
Ctrl and ESC key in KDE to open the process table then kill it from there.

Hope this helps.

I know it must be running in the background somewhere... when I go to restart the FF screen flashes before shutdown.

Hmmm it sure be there.
As a temp work around you could create a new user and browse under that.
This has happened to me a few times, in the end it works itself out.
