Firefox 3.5.2 and Adobe Flash

Hi

I am using mepis 8 and everything is 32bit. Until recently I was using Firefox 3.0 and the flash player worked fine. However I recently upgraded a lot of my software though the packager manager including Firefox 3.5.2 and now Adobe Flash Player will not work. I have installed adobe flash player both through the package manager and when that did not work also from the Adobe website (Ubuntu 8.04.deb file.) Neither will work.

I have installed the libflashplayer.so file in all the appropriate plugin directories as per the instructions. I have even tried Konqueror but again flash does not work.

In the Plugin section of Firefox there is a plugin for Shockwave flash 10.0.r32 and it is enabled. Inserting aboutlugins in task bar of the browser displays details of plugins for mplayer, Quicktime and Realplayer but nothing about Adobe flash.

I have now exhausted all my ideas. Can anyone think of anything else I can try?

I am having a similar problem. I am running 2.6.30.5-43.fc11.x86_64 KDE on my desktop. I installed the libflashplayer.so filed into the /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins directory, but flash still does not work with firefox 3.5 and does not come up under the list of plugins. Anyone have any suggestions?

Nevermind, how careless of me. I clicked on the link for 32-bit flash instead of 64. Everything works now.

I am running FF 3.5.2 on ubuntu 8.04.3 with plug-in Shockwave Flash 9.0 r246. Adobe About and Adobe Version Test say it is OK.

I didn't do anything special to install it -- it came along with the upgrade from FF 3.0.13.

Apparently the latest version for all OSes and supported browsers is 10.0.32.18. Mmm ... should I upgrade or follow the "Thou shalt not touch working systems" law?

EDIT:

aboutlugins lists Shockwave Flash 9.0 r246
