Firefox 2.0.0.4 and JRE1.6.0_02

Hello, I've downloaded and installed jre-6u2-linux-i586.bin in /opt/jrefile/jre1.6.0_02. When I command java -version the response is 1.6.0_02. I've cded to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and commanded # ln -s /opt/jrefile/jre1.6.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so.
When I ls /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins libjavaplugin_oji.so is present. However, when I launch Firefox and enter about

lugins Java does not appear. How can I enable Java? Thanks, Larry

Do you have compat-libstdc++-33 installed? If not type

sudo yum install compat-libstdc++-33

and check again.

I commanded # yum install compat-libstdc++-33 and it executed, and finished saying 'Nothing to do". I launched Firefox and entered about

lugins and still no Java plugin. So, what's next? Thanks, Larry
