New features are OK until they break. This morning I tried to click on a bookmark in Firefox 13. Somehow it grabbed and dragged a page from the new page tab instead of opening the bookmark. Firefox froze for a minute and then crashed. To avoid this instability, I thought I would turn off this new feature. The normal place to change a setting would be the preferences screen. Not so with the new page tab. Below is a link that documents how to turn it off.
I've never liked the tab page, be it in Opera, Chrome/Chromium, or FF, and turned it off after a couple of runs of FF13. First thing I did when trying to get rid of it was to click on the little grid in the upper right, thinking, "wtf does this do?" Turns out it does exactly what I wanted. I'm not at all pleased that FF decided to hijack my home page upon upgrading.
