i am having install issues with firefox 1.5.0.1 on FC4.

after extracting to archive, i try to launch the application.

[cliffcol@localhost firefox]$ ./firefox
./firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

i have read some posts which indicated at times this meant the given library was not installed or improperly linked. however, i seem to be running a "newer" version of this library.

i'm really not sure how to proceed with this issue.

Do a >yum provides libstdc++.so.5< that should tell you what package to install with yum so that Firefox 1.5 will work. Likely it is the compatibility file.
