Finding a suitable icon for LimeWire
Just installed LimeWire and I love it! I put a link on my KDE desktop to the shell script to run the program, but the default icon for shell scripts is ugly. Where could I find a better icon? Any good websites?

If you really are gonna use nasty fat ugly slow kludgy limewire, please at least make sure you've tried gtk-gnutella and qtella first. both are much faster and better.

You could design your own. Use The Gimp and make a single green line (perhaps diagonal?) across a square. It's up to you whether you choose to make it 16x16, 32x32, 48x48 or 64x64.

OR, if you like the "lime" theme, you can go download one of the pictures of it at the website, and then crop it with Gimp to fit. Best thing to do is use the circle selection tool and crop out all background color (the one I got was a square, the color around the lime was white) so all you have is a round lime icon. Save it as png or xpm. Then right click on the icon, choose properties, click the "ugly" icon, locate your new "awesome" icon, and choose ok. Now you have the limewire lime as your icon.

acid: qtella? What's this, a new one? You make me try gtk-gnutella, but I still use Limewire instead. Should I try this one? :)

If you r-click the Limewire icon and choose preferences and then l-click the icon displayed on the general tab,it will reveal hundreds of different icons.
For my Gramofile icon I use the old-time radio.:) lynch |
Hi!
Well, what I do to find icons is the following; Go to http://images.google.com/ Click on advanced image search Type in 'limewire' in the 'related to all of the words' field Choose 'Icon Sized' in the size dropdown box. Search. :) Then just browse around till you find one suits your needs, and then you can brush it up in the gimp. Have fun! RefriedBean PS, try gtk-gnutella too, IMHO its better. |
