Do you mean like a research project, or do you actually have to create something (like a kernel module, or something along those lines).

1. Go to gnu.org OR; Google Summer Code site
You will be able to find out lots of projects.

2. Contact your nearest LUG. They might specifically help you out.

Wow ... are you sure you're not looking for too complex a thing?
Have a look at a program like 'gnash' - but remember you will need to spend a lot of time learning about Adobe 'Flash' and learning how to reverse-engineer the latest formats.

Other things that come to mind include Blender and its use with 'cal3d', or general 3D animation support in various rendering engines (OGRE, CrystalSpace, etc).

If you're going to do animation, it is advisable that you already know a lot of the concepts used and the mathematics involved; for the most part these are not things which you can learn in a short period of time.

... and you keep asking for help. If the above suggestions are not suitable for you, at least give us the reason for it, so that people could have a better idea of what you actually want.

Lately a number of people have been asking about a bootloader which can bootstrap Linux installers from ISO images. I think that will take about 1 year to do properly. Writing a tool for reading FAT16/FAT32 filesystems should be trivial, but the ISO9660 filesystem may be more demanding. (I have no idea if you'll need the Red Book or similar to write tools to read the ISO). With high capacity USB sticks these days, I think a bootloader that can pull this off would attract a lot of interest (look at how many Live CDs I can boot!)

Hi,
I think 'Animation' kind of project is very difficult to do for final year as we dont know anything of it and we need to start it from basics.Animation thing requires a lot of time to get through complete required knowledege.and thing is that we should get proper guidence for it and prioject should get complete..
So can u suggest me topics in JAVA or other applications which i can implement as final year project as soon as possibl..
Thanx a lot ..

Why don't you come up with ideas for your own project, considering we gave you lots of suggestions and you still keep asking for help

I would think part of the intention for that assignment, would be for you to choose your own project....

You been pointed in the right direction, now it's time for you to walk on your own two feet...
