Filter "hpps" for printer not available: No such file or directory

Hello everyone

I am trying to add a new printer to our CUPS server(version 1.3.7)
but I get this error when I try to print a test page.

Filter "hpps" for printer "hplj277" not available: No such file or directory"

Description: CLJ Pro MFP M277dw
Location: 67
Printer Driver: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 Postscript (recommended)
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs, published.
Device URI: socket://128.40.80.55

Does anyone know what's hpps and where can I find it?

Many thanks

Have you tried to install/setup the HP printer driver?

hpps - HPLIP PostScript Finishing Filter

Your printer requires a plugin which can be installed using hplip utilities. What linux distribution/version are you running that uses still uses cups version 1.3.7? I would assume that Fedora 25 would be using something more recent and that would suggest that you would need to install latest hplip version to install everything required for your printer.

Thank you both for your replies. The cups server is not running on my machine (FC25). It is running on Centos5.
I know it is old and has been working perfect, however I think it's time for a new setup with the latest CUPS.

Thanks for the link michaelk, very useful.

Should work for centOS as well as RedHat.
You'll need the RPM packages.
