Files, Multi-Media organization SW

Hello,

I'm looking for software that is able to organize my files in complex way.

For example usually everyone some kind of following data at computer
~
|-Documents
|-Music
| |-Artist A
| | |-Slow
| | |-Fast
| |-Artist B
| | |-Slow
| | |-Fast
|-Pictures
| |-Girlfirend X
| | |-Home
| | |-Trip to France ;-)
| |-Girlfirend Y
| | |-Home
| | |-Trip to France ;-)

However I'd like to have the data organized some times in different way:
1. To see all Slow music belongs to Artist A and B
2. To see pictures with both girlfriends at some trip

I want to be able to copy data by different categories/sections.
Create new categories - manage them
Preview and open music files, pictures, and other types of data by different categories.

Directories system allows you to manage the data in very basic why however sometimes I need something more complex - some kind of simple/friendly data base/organizer for files. By different categories with ability to manage them/copy.

I need this mostly for music, but for pictures/documents it would be also very nice...

If someone knows such software for Linux (or even for other systems) can you please direct me.

Thanks
