I often use
rcs for very small, temporary projects (i.e. no directories), and my recent experience with
bzr ("bazaar") suggests it can be used for that as well.
I advise people to avoid
cvs for really active projects where re-factoring is done often because cvs does not deal well with structural changes. For such projects,
svn ("subversion") is a far better choice. I don't know if
bzr is available on Fedora, but there is a very brief, very useful tutorial on it at:
