file quota in sql?

I am trying to figure out how to keep user file quotas in sql so that as users are added by proftpd they automatically have a limit. Really it wouldnt even have to be in sql... If there was some way that all users belonging to group a get 100mb per user and group b gets 200mb per user for example.
