Fil descriptor available for squid

How do i increase the file descriptor available to squid.

i am using Fedora core 4.Previously, while i was using Redhat, all i had to was increase a file called typesizes.h and run the command "ulimit -HSn XXX" but this does not seem to work with fedora.any ideas.

thanks.

what version of squid are you on?? i was under the impression that in newer versions there was no need to tweak typesizes.h and recompile... in other words, the ulimit startup command would suffice... are you sure you aren't trying to set a higher number than what is configured for your account?? you can check your account's max with a:
Code:
ulimit -n
