Exclamation FGLRX drivers - Slackware 9.1 - Radeon 9600 Pro

Ok here's my problem, I want to game on Linux ... I want to show up all my windows friends. But, I just cannot get the ATI drivers working properly! I install the drivers and modules correctly (everything shows up fine in lsmod). My XF86Config is the one created by "fglrxconfig". But i can't hardware rendering working!?!? When I do "glxgears" i get between 50 and 200 fps only! I should have close to 2000 and NO games work properly cause everything is software rendered! Is there a way to fix this? If so please help me .... for the love of linux!!!

The ATI Radeon How-to at http://www.gmpf.de/english/

The ATI Radeon Linux How-to at http://www.rage3d.com/content/articles/atilinuxhowto/. The patches mentioned can be found on the Rage3D forums at http://rage3d.com/board/showthread.p...adid=33730800.

Some tips can be found on the Waikato Linux Users Group Wiki at http://www.wlug.org.nz/RadeonNotes

and a How-to/FAQ for Gentoo users (and others) can be found at http://odin.prohosting.com/wedge01/g...adeon-faq.html

Hope these links help. Your problem (most likely) is that your kernel is not set up correctly-- that's the first thing I would check if I was you.

I have a AIW 9800SE, and I have gotten the fglrx drivers working with HW acceleration under Mandrake 9.2, Slackware 9.1 and now Gentoo, so I feel your pain, but it can work. Hang in there.
