FFmpeg video overlay

I would like to over lay a video on top of another video at the same time.

So I have timer video and I would like to have that play on top of another video using ffmpeg or memcoder or how ever you could using the linux cli.

I've tried to figure out Libavfilter with no success I have vhook working just fine with static text ,but haven't been able to figure out to do a dynamic time update.

Any advice on this would be awesome thank you.

Assume file1.wmv is the main file, and file2.wmv is the file you want to put on top, then

$ ffmpeg -i file1.wmv -vf "movie=file2.wmv[clip2]; [in][clip2] overlay=0:0 [out]" -sameq overlay.wmv
