fetchmail LAST command

Changes to some POP3 RFC have meant that many mailservers now report an -ERR when fetchmail issues the LAST command. (Although it continues to collect the mail ok).

This is an annoyance to me as my CRON mail collection script emails mail problems if there is any error output. So now I get an email for every incoming email!!

Does anyone know if fetchmail can be made to not use the LAST command? Or any suggestions for other solutions (I've upgraded to the latest fetchmail 6.2.5)

Thanks

Is the only way around this issue with fetchmail and the now "discontinued" LAST command to use IMAP instead of POP3?

Any help or opinion on this would be really appreciated. Thanks.
