Fedora, Steam ==> no font, Winex: Freetype and Xrender error

a few days ago I decided to install Steam (Counter-Strike) on my PC.
I am using winex 3.3 to install the application.
My OS is Linux Fedora Core 1.

When I want to start steam I have 2 errors:
FreeType could not be loaded.
This is not necessarily a fatal error, however some
applications require FreeType to be installed and
may not function or display text correctly otherwise.
Please consult the WineX Font FAQ for more details
        about this problem
The problem is, Freetype is installed on my system and on other systems it works great.
I tried to install freetype but, nothing works.
The Steam application is ok, but I can't see any font.

I changed a setting in my winex3 config: "Freetype" = "N".
Before that I had a second error ==> XRender could not be loaded to.

Can somebody help me?

P.S.: I have the same problem on Redhat 9 (full updated)
