Fedora Download won't boot

Downloaded Fedora.iso the other day. Burned a cd so I could hopefully load either the cd or iso. into a virtual machine. Neither one works. As a virtual machine have no BIOS issue, so that's not it. I did burn and not just copy files, so that's not it either. Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to the forums!

Can you be more specific than "it didn't work?" What is your setup, what have you tried, what are the error messages/symptoms?

Did you verify the md5sum from the download?
Try to burn the iso at a lower speed.

Kind regards

and to add
Did you read the fedora install guide ?
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...ide/index.html

burning the iso ( as an image ) to a dvd is covered

fedora won't boot

When I try to load it into VMware, it says it can't see an OS on the cd (of the iso.). When I load it into VirtualPC nothing happens.
Dont' know how to check the md5sum. I read the Fedora intructions on the website and just did what it said. Sounded pretty simple. I tried it on a MAC and my Windows PC. Same results with both.

DID you burn the iso as a "image" or as a DATA dvd /cd
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...isc/index.html
that is from windows7 read the dvd and look to see if there is ONE file or many files on it

there should be about a dozen

if there is only ONE " Fedora-14-i386-DVD.iso "( for 32 bit)or " Fedora-14-x86_64-DVD.iso " ( for 64 bit)

then you burned it wrong

You should make it clear what type of iso you downloaded. Was it for a live-CD ? If so test the live cd by booting with it in the drive. If it was anything else, then it is a dvd image and useful only for an installation. (That could be into Vbox or vmware or to the hard disk as a proper install).

No matter what, the download is bad. Test it to be sure.

I did burn it as a data dvd. When I look at on the dvd drive, it is the iso image only- not a bunch of files. It appears as with the same iso icon that the download has. Will try to boot the dvd in computer. ....

John VV 04-26-2011 12:25 AM

well if you made the dvd a data dvd then it will never boot
you MUST use " burn as a image"

on windows ( seeing as there is NO native support for this-except for 7)
buy a license for nero
or there are a few free programs

i have used "InfraRecorder" in the past

see the link to the FEDORA DOC page I posted a few up
