Fedora Core includes PHP? Why won't it recognize OSCOMMERCE download?
Hi
I'm using Fedora Core trying to download oscommerce (from http://www.oscommerce.com/about). The browser says it doesn't recognize the file and doesn't know what to do with it. How can this be? Doesn't one open system software recognize another? From reading I got the notion that PHP would do the trick. I'd appreciate hearing all comments on this issue. Thanks much. Tina |
I don't quite understand what you mean - the download page is here and the package comes as a tarball (a gzipped tar archive - .tar.gz). Save it to disk and extract it and read the documentation that comes in the tarball.

Thanks. I saved the file to disk as suggested (instead of expecting it to install from its remote location). Sorry I didn't list the exact oscommerce download page.
I'm now trying to extract the file with the command: tar -xvf oscommerce-2.tar.gz An error messages says: "Tar: This does not look like a tar archive" Any suggestions? Thanks much. Tina |
I just extracted the files using the command gtar xvzf osco.......tar.gz.
Does Fedora Core include PHP, Apache and SSL? Thanks much. Tina |
I am sure it comes with all of those, but they may not be installed by default. I am not a Fedora user so I'm not comfortable with giving installation advice. Try the Distributions - Fedora section of this site.
