Weird, I can open .avi files but I can't see any pictures in Totem. Any ideas?

I've tried making the ffmpeg files too, and make install after that. It says it has created vhook in the /usr/lib/vhook

But I still can't see any pictures, only hear the sound.

Chuong?
Don't you have fedora four?
Why didn't you "yum install gstreamer-ffmpeg"?
Why don't you edit your profile?

Mate for the last time, I did yum install gstreamer-ffmpeg it says it can't find it!

Either the address is wrong or something's wrong.

Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
Reading repository metadata in from local files
Parsing package install arguments
No Match for argument: gstreamer-ffmpeg
Nothing to do

Same old message!

I don't know what the heck's going on, I mean I'm using that guy's yum config but it says can't find it.

I even build the source using make and make install of the ffmpeg player, but I can't see any pictures, only hear sounds =/

I don't know what the heck repositories mean and the site didnt' show me how to set it up, the last time I checked anyways.

I've also tried yum install vlc but thing says missing some kind of file or something.

Problem still in progress = )

I don't edit my profile because I like it the way it is. With all these hacking issues we've been discussing, I feel a bit unsafe giving away details, I mean didn't do anything! Why hack me?

Well you see, you havn't actually reported that you have tried installing the repos and tried again... not before now. (If I missed it, can you point me to it?)
Code:
[~]$ rpm -q gstreamer-ffmpeg
gstreamer-ffmpeg-0.8.4.1-0.2.fc4
... the package exists.
Who's yum.conf did you use?
Did you try installing yum extender?

Mplayer is pretty neat - playing DVDs takes a bit of guesswork though, since it dosn't support menues. But hey - if you're happy with it... and it's what I use.

... but you have to tell people your distro anyway, or they cannot help you. It is just annoying to have to hunt back through the posts to find where you mentioned it.

How to ask questions and be secure

The information you don't want giving out is sensitive information ... like your credit-card numbers, or global IP, or passwords. Your distro type is very innocent, which is why every single one of the most experienced members feel secure adding it to their profile. Similarily with location (but not your street address right!) Basically, this is all information which will help people provide you with help specific to you.

discussion on this very topic.
