Fedora Core 4 not able to (none)login:

Dear all Help me,

I am using fedora core 4 linux at my HPML350G server, it was working quite fine and i loved it, but 2 days before i clicked any icon on the desktop there was error,so i shutdown the fedora core4 and restarted but after that i could not able to log in to the fedora core, i tried to login as single user i.e.grup -1 but it didn't work, it shows (none)Login: prompt if i try to login as root or any other user, first of all it is not asking the password, if i enter the root again it shows the same promt i.e. (none)login:, now i want to know two things, 1) how can i rectify this problem and 2)How can i recover my Home folders that means my mails with all users account.
Please reply at immediately.

Thanks

Fedora Core 4 not able to (none)login:

Check to see if the hard drive / partition is not full. Maybe full of error log files? Faulty hardware such as a CDROM drive or CD maybe?
Use the linux CD, boot and then use the command prompt screen (F2 - I think) to see if you can access the partition. It will be mounted if you proceeded to the upgrade option. You should then be able to access all data, but where are you going to write it to? Do you have another HDD or FAT32 partition perhaps?. If the partition is full, you can clear /tmp and the log files in /var/log.
Hope this helps.
