Unhappy fedora core 3 web connection problem

Hello everyone,
I installed FC3 recently and was very happy with it
but for some reason I can only connect to a very few sites on the internet.
I hope this problem is solvable because I don't really
care to go back to my previous linux version, right now
I'm using red hat 6.1 on another hard drive to use the internet and it just barely does the job.
Can anyone help with this problem, or direct me to a
site that can? I have been doing google searches for a fix
but can't seem to have any luck.

Connect how? With a browser? if so, console (text) or gui (x-windows system)?

Are you on an internal network? Just what are the settings you have?

Are you using the browser from Fedora Core to get to this site now?

Fedora Core 3 connection problem, continued

1) I am using red hat 6.1 cartman at the moment to connect
2) I can't use my web browser to access most web pages, some connect, like the site and redhat site
but that pretty much does it
3) I used the included firefox browser, but also tried the generic ones also included
4) no internal network, just home computer with dsl (which is working)
5) I can use lynx browser and telnet and ftp but thats it

When I did a search for the possible solution yesterday night I got some positive hits about it but was short on time and had to go out, now I can't remember the exact phrase I used to get them.
I have been googling with
fedora core 3 problems connecting to the internet
and got a bunch but the list is so long and the first ones didnt have much to help it would take years to find it that way I think

I dont really know much about the technical side of setting it up I just followed all the directions as best I could.
I also set up red hat 9.0 and it worked fine, I have set up many linux systems over the years, and am not entirely a novice, but neither a guru

Sorry I am not help...I have a similar problem running FC3. I recently moved and got DSL service. For some reason after changing service (modem and provider) I could not connect to the internet with firefox 1.03 the connection just times out. I can connect with konqueror and console tool (scp, ftp, ping, etc) without a problem. I also tried gnome's ephiphany browser and that did not work either.

So hopefully if more than one of us are having a similar problem we can get some help. Let me know if you have found any solutions.

fedora\rhel & Firefox\Thunderbird & 3 Tricks

(1) Try disabling IPv6 if enabled

(2) Ensure SELinux & Firewall\IPChanins are disabled, especially if you don't know how they work

(3) ensure that your DNS \ \etc\resolv.conf has at least 1 DNS entry of yuour ISP, NOT your Router, even if Windows doesn't

(4) If all else fails, download the latest RPM for your app
